Hey there folks. I’m a little tired today, but will not use that as an excuse for not posting something (not today anyway). Have you ever had one of those days when everything you look at resembles your comfy bed? That was me today; I barely ate my lunch opting for a 20 minute nap.
Let’s dive in…

Politics
With 98 days remaining until the election, this is around the time I really start paying attention to the candidates. Things start to heat up and I need know who is saying what (and re-saying it to cover up what was said earlier!) Nevertheless, relax, I don’t get over zealous about it, however I will from time to time make sure you’re tuned in!

If you have been near a television at all during the past couple of days, you’ve heard about Mitt Romney’s disastrous 3 country tour. From insulting the British to praising Israel on their healthcare system, which happens to be socialized – and what President Obama has signed into action (aka Obamacare) (and what Romney and other Republicans have sworn to get rid of) to his Aides totally losing their cool…I would say they need to bring it on in and regroup.

What say you? How do you view his trip overseas? Do you see it as their calling it – a classic photo-op trip? Or do you agree with the majority, the video tape, etc.?

What about Romney’s refusal to release his tax information prior to the two years already provided? The latest…an investor has proclaimed that Mitt Romney did not pay taxes for 10 years (What!!??) Of course, now this accusation is raising more than a few eyebrows and causing some to scratch their temple. Some have begun to ask is this why he is so obstinate about releasing older tax documents because there aren’t any to produce…the plot thickens…

Olympics
Short & sweet: History has been made! M. Phelps has his record breaking 19th medal today. The Fab-5 grabbed the gold in gymnastics and the Dynamic Duo, May-Treanor and Walsh-Jennings repeat their gold winning on the beach. Medals count top 5: US-23 (9 Gold); China-23 (13 Gold); Japan-13; France-118; South Korea-9. Go TeamUSA!

Wrap up…
Starting tomorrow-Aug. 1st - Insurance companies are REQUIRED to cover Women's Preventive Health Services such as pap smears, Mammograms and the ever popular birth control just to name a few all without co-pays and deductibles. This is MAJOR!!! This is another phase of Obamacare and one that should be utilized to the fullest. Call your healthcare insurance reps and find out what exactly falls under this umbrella. Ladies, please TAKE ADVANTAGE of this!

‘Til next time!

Something New

I’m going to try this new format of blogging I noticed somewhere else. I thought it was inviting and figured it would help motivate me to stay current with entries and gain some followers (we’ll see!)

Local:
After yet another shooting resulting in the death of another youth, Bridgeport’s City Council has passed a youth curfew. According to CTPost.com, the ordinance effects youth under the age of 18. You can read about here. I don’t know, when I was a teenager (and it’s not that long ago!) there was no way I was allowed to be out at all hours of the night. My curfew was my fear of what would happen if I didn’t make it home by the time I was told. My mother didn’t even like me sitting on our front porch too late! My prayers are with the families of those teenagers that were shot, and for the ones that pulled the triggers.

Let The Games Begin!
The 2012 Olympics have kicked off with a BANG! How many of you watched the Opening Ceremony? On the grand scale of things, it was phenomenal! With over 7 thousand volunteers used for the performance, great British contributions were highlighted throughout extravaganza. The video is available online here, along with replays of the events. I think the Beijing opening was better…just my own little opinion (watch both and tell me what you think!)

I’ll try to keep up with the medals count over the next few days. In the top 5 as of now: US-17; China-17; Japan-11; Italy-8; France-7 I’m keeping my eye on the Men’s/Women’s basketball (of course!)  Allyson Felix (@allysonfelix), Lolo Jones (@lolojones), and Usain Bolt (@usainbolt) I’ll share more from Track & Field before they’re televised this weekend

National:
I will not use this a another platform to loop the repeatedly looped…I do want to officially offer my prayers for the Colorado victims, express my disgust at how such a tragedy could happen so casually, and voice my utmost repulsion at how some people are still trying to defend the right to bear arms of mass destruction that can be purchased with the ease of ordering them online. That’s it for me. How do you feel about the constant coverage? Are you for it? (not to minimize the tragedy by any means)

Wrap up…
Okay, this is the first of what I hope will be many. I welcome and encourage comments…I want to hear from you! I also want to stress that this is a ‘DRAMA-FREE ZONE” If you feel the need to demoralize, insult, or anything remotely close…I’m giving you a personal invitation to post it elsewhere (we’ll wait…)

Okay, I’m looking for to this – let’s have some fun!

On A High:
““You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14,16 NIV)
